Reminder: GeoStor Scheduled Maintenance This Weekend (May 30-June 2)

We will be performing some maintenance on GeoStor's backend hardware this weekend.  There should be no interference with GeoStor's current functionality, but as is the case with any hardware maintenance, unforeseen issues may arise.

As such, please be aware that this maintenance window will run from today, May 30th at 5:00pm CST until Monday, June 2nd at 8:00am CST.  We will update you as soon as the maintenance is complete. Thank you all for your patience during this upgrade.

National Forest Service Data Updated

Thanks to the Ozark- St. Francis National Forests' GIS office for updating their datasets on GeoStor!  This was a large update covering six of their datasets. 

The updated datasets include:

School District Boundary File Updated

Due to the recent Voluntary Annexation of the Norphlet School District into Smackover School District, the Arkansas Department of Education requested the AGIO to update the statewide Public School boundary file on GeoStor.  This annexation shall be effective by July 1, 2014.

Please note: The Department of Education ordered the Administrative Consolidation of the Stephens School District with Camden Fairview, Magnolia and Nevada County School Districts effective July 1, 2014, as well.  However, this consolidation is pending approval in federal district court.  As such, this data HAS NOT been updated on GeoStor. The AGIO will update this district once it has been officially approved.

GeoStor User Survey

In the first of many steps to seek user community input regarding updates and enhancements to GeoStor, we invite you to take a quick ten question survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VCTLX9F).  Your input is vital and the results of this survey will guide the considerations that the AGIO team will use in implementing enhancements to GeoStor; for GeoStor's sole purpose is to provide the GIS community a one stop clearinghouse to access statewide GIS data generously provided by local entities.  As such, we need to know what you like about GeoStor and what you want out of GeoStor in the future.

While these survey questions are rudimentary in nature, the answers to these ten questions will help us determine where to focus our resources in the coming days and weeks. There are numerous options when it comes to the user interface, services, and backend architecture.  Your answers will provide us with the information needed to determine which path GeoStor takes.

New Address Point Data Available for Seven Counties and One Municipality

An updated Address Point dataset is now available on GeoStor for the following areas:

Counties:  Faulkner, Grant, Poinsett, Polk, Saline, White and Yell.
City:  Hope

New Rural Building Point Data Updated on GeoStor

This point feature contains building point data for buildings that fall outside of incorporated AHTD city limit boundaries.

New FCC Tower Data Available on GeoStor

The Antenna Structure Registration, or ASR, Tower data from the FCC is now available for download on GeoStor.  This dataset is derived from data uploaded and maintained by the FCC.  Each record represents an entity that has filed a tower registration with the FCC through the FCC Universal Licensing System.

Please note:  the national dataset was buffered ten miles from the AHTD County boundaries in order to capture towers outside of Arkansas that may be of interest to end users in the border regions of the state.
