The Arkanasas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has provided the 2009 Road Inventory data set for download. This data set includes 30+ attributes including functional class codes, lane widths, average daily traffic counts, ect. New Orthos in the Delta

High Res Image Service

Eagle Forestry Services/EFS GeoTechnologies (EFS) http://www.efsgeotech.com/ collects and processes a high volume of high resolution digital orthorectified aerial imagery products each year. EFS collected roughly 6,500 square miles of eastern Arkansas between November 2009 and March 2010 for the Corp of Engineers, Memphis District. In subsequent meetings, EFS received permission from the Corp of Engineers to release the data to Arkansas counties and GeoStor for user consumption. The imagery is half meter resolution and covers the Mississippi River, Delta Region, and the White River Bottoms.

The imagery is now available for use via FTP (ftp://ftp.geostor.arkansas.gov/2010/EFS) and via the HIGH_RES image service. The HIGH_RES image service is a composite of natural color, half meter or better, orthos created after 2008.

Drew County Orthophotography

Drew County has provided 1 foot resolution, natural color orthos for the county and half foot resolution for the City of Monticello. The data was flown and processed by Eagle Forestry Services. The UALR GIS Applications Laboratory and Secretary of State have provided an update to the AR Public School District file. This file includes all of the annexations that became effective on July 1, 2010.

2008 Impaired Waterbodies

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has released the 2008 Impaired Waterbodies (303(d) List) shapefiles to GeoStor. The 2008 Impaired Waterbodies list includes the category 4a streams and lakes and the category 5 streams and lakes. This list has been formatted to reflect the guidance issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the development of the Integrated Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment Report. These shapefiles consist of subsets from the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Medium Resolution (1:100,000) Flowlines and Areas. The purpose of these datasets is to provide a cartographic representation of the streams and lakes in the 4a and 5 categories.

April 30, 2010 Strong Storms

Strong storms passed through the state on April 30, 2010. These storms produced several sever thunderstorm tracks and possible tornadoes. Jonesboro, AR Road Data Added

63 new road features from Jonesboro, AR have been added to the Arkansas Road Centerline File. "These were effectively added to the existing centerline files, and addressed if addresses were available.  Some of the roads exist, but no houses have been built on them, and are not assigned addresses yet.  They were placed by the 2009 NAIP aerial image." stated Rusty McAllister, GIS Coordinator for the City of Jonesboro.

New Data- Justice of Peace Districts

Justice of the Peace Districts for select counties are now available via GeoStor. The Arkansas Secretary of State created and provided this data set. Work continues to complete the JP districts in all 75 counties. More Eyes Equals Better Data

The Arkansas Road Centerline File effort is unique because it does not seek to just create the data. The effort includes a continued effort to have road centerlines maintained at the local level. There is also great deal of value that comes from having the data used.

User provided feedback is one benefit of having the data readily available for public and private use. AGIO staff met with a major user of the data set last week. The user commended the state on the development of the file and provided feedback on possible errors that they had identified. This feed back has resulted in an updated  ACF file that is available for download. http://www.geostor.arkansas.gov/G6/Home.html?q=ACF+DL

Thank you to all of those that create, maintain, use and offer specific edits. The Arkansas GIS Community has once again proved itself invaluable.

GeoStor Outage

We are experiencing some issues with our WFS services and map viewer. We were attempting an upgrade of the map viewer last night and everything has gone downhill since. We will try to get everything back online and working as quickly as possible.

This site is intended to provide access (via a viewer) to parcel information that resides in the public domain. Access to the viewer has been added to GeoStor http://www.geostor.arkansas.gov/G6/Home.html?q=pARcelmaps. Road Centerlines: One Step Closer

The Arkansas Road Centerline file has been updated and now includes Cleveland County. Data sharing in Arkansas is nothing short of awesome. Big THANK YOU to those that continue to contribute to the Arkansas Road Centerline File effort. AGIO staff are working with Newton County and hope to have it posted in the coming months.

The ACF file has exceeded the capability to be downloaded via clip, zip and ship as a shapefile. Other formats work properly.

2009 NAIP Imagery Now Available

Thank you to Steve Walker, Farm Service Agency (FSA) for providing the 2009 1-meter natural color orthos created via the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP).
